My dear brother Dwight, You were & ARE my hero & I certainly didn't tell you this enough (probably the Irish thing?) You were there for me numerous times throughout my life & for many various reasons. Now you are gone & my heart is heavy. What will I do? I want to answer that, with one thing I know for sure. Although I have never been the "family spokesperson", I promise you, we as a family, will lookout for your WONDERFUL daughter, Katherine, her husband Damian & your two BEAUTIFUL granddaughters, Aaliyah & Sophia. Katherine put together a very touching service in your honor, along with a gentleman by the name of Matt (a wonderful man) @ the Powell Funeral Home. You would have been VERY proud, everyone in attendance was! Many of us know Katherine was the light of your life & for those that didn't know, they do now & understand why. You were a very lucky man to have her for a daughter, very lucky! She is loved by all. I will miss our conversations about our "origins" (although there was a time for us both in which we wanted to escape from them) & the fact that we became proud of our hometown, as we got older. Levittown was a wonderful place, overall, with many, many wonderful friends. quite a few of those friends were in attendance at your service, others just simply could not make it (stinking Coronavirus) I will also miss our shared love of music & our "oldies" shows at Westbury Music fair (NOT NYCB, sounds like a frozen yogurt store) My love of Motown & The (Young) Rascals, I owe to you. I had some good times with you at these shows, I only wish I had heard more of the singers in the various bands, than I did of you... but you were having fun! I never would have thought of "a better way of living" had it not been for you (a Power's of example), thank you, my head, stomach & entire body thanks you! There is SO much more that I could say (after all, I am a Powers) but I will keep it in my heart. Bottom line? You were & ARE my hero. I will love & miss you for all my remaining days, If any of it is true (no one really knows) & you DO see Mom & Dad? Tell them I said hello, they did their best, I'm hungry & could use a little money... Oh yeah & I love them too. R.I.P. my dear brother!

Dear Dwight
Over the years you helped countless people who were fighting their own demons and struggles.
All the while, few people knew the ache in your heart and your daily feelings of helplessness.
I wish I could have tried to lighten the load.
Rest in peace Dwight. You were a friend to many.
Thank you for every life you touched.
Cathy XOXO

Gone too soon. He will be missed by many and forgotten by few.
Dwight was a true gentleman and, indeed, a gentle man.
Such a tragic loss. May God Bless his family.

Dear Doug, Dennis, Dawn, Catherine and all of Dwight's family & friends,
My deepest condolences to all of you in this time of great sorrow. Words cannot express what I would like to say, instead it comes from my heart. Dwight was a part of my life and my family for ten years and I am heartbroken to hear of his loss. Everyone in my family loved Dwight and his sense of humor and his great storytelling. Many times at family gatherings he would have us laughing at his comical views on daily life and his work at US Customs. He was such a kind man and the world has lost some light now that he is gone.
My wish for you is to find some consolation in your memories and knowing that Dwight was well loved by so many people.
Dwight, You will always be in my heart. Rest in peace and love. Semper Fi!
Love,
Susan Brownell.

Dwight was the best friend of my husband, Dennis Madison. He was one of a very few people Dennis could talk to about his time in Vietnam. He also was the one that kept me laughing at their younger adventures. He was a fabulous storyteller. We kept contact after my divorce and husbands passing. I could always count on him to lift my spirits. My heart goes out to his family. If possible please let me know of plans for internment.
Anna, Denni's sister sends her love as well.
