Obituary of Vera Pratt
Obituary
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up
For me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and
Not to me only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing.
II Timothy 4:7-8
Vera Pratt was born in Sylvester, Georgia to Artes Molden and Mattie Mae Molden on February 4, 1934. She attended schools in Web County school district, before moving to Bennettsville, SC, Marlboro County where she met her husband, Alfred Lee Platt. To this union, three children were born, Virgie Pratt, Lee Vaughn and Alford Pratt, Jr.
She also leaves to mourn her God daughter, Elaine Edwards, and her children, Ronald Hodge and daughter Amanda Edwards.
Vera had many interests in life. Vera loved gardening, as well as having a love for needle point activities and other craft works. She additionally enjoyed time spent with her grandson attending his football games and all areas involving his sports events.
Vera was a member of Pilgrim Cathedral under the leadership of Archbishop Roy E. Brown, where she served as Deaconess and served on the usher board. She also served the church as a faithful servant church cleaning, a church seating more than 3000 people. She was a member of Proverbs Temple of God In Christ under Bishop Eric Townsend where she served as a Deaconess and Mother of the church. After moving to Long Island, she attended Freedom Chapel International Worship Center under Pastor Jimmie Jack, where she Mother of the church. Unfortunately, due to health issues, she never had the pleasure of serving under Pastor Henri Dennis, present pastor of Freedom Chapel, if given the opportunity she would have offered her service.
On Friday, August 4, 2023, Vera departed this earthly life at home at 1:00 pm.
Mrs. Vera Pratt leaves to cherish her memory, children Virgie, Lee Vaughn and Alford, Jr., her grandson Ronald William Stevens, Jr. (Shannon) and great grandchildren, Ronald Storm Stevens, III and great granddaughter, Snow Luna Stevens. She leaves her brother-in-law Roy Pratt (Maybelle).
Now Vera is at home with her 14 brothers and sisters. Vera was the last of her siblings to go home. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Today I’d like to celebrate the life of my beloved grandmother. After a long, beautiful and incredible life lived, she has gone home to be with the Lord. Grandma was more than just a grandmother, she was a friend, confidant and an inspiration to all around. She had a zest for life that was contagious and taught me to cherish every moment and find happiness in the simplest things. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person could have on so many lives. This day I salute with the utmost love and reverence, heaven’s newest angel, Mrs. Vera Pratt.
From your grandson, Ronald Stevens, Jr.
We would like to thank everyone for your prayers and words of kindness.
