What a wonderful & truly special man - Lenny was a treasured family friend of my grandparents - & we always loved it when he came to visit Scotland!
I remember his booming personality but also his incredibly kind natured way - a true gentle giant. His advice to me as a wayward teenager remains etched in my memory. I am forever grateful for his guidance.
Sending our deepest condolences to all the family.

Rest easy ❤️

FINGER’S UP!
There are many memories of Uncle Lenny that I will cherish-the phone calls, talking sports, conspiring together to surprise Mom for her birthday, celebrating life events, being schooled on travel knowledge (he was very correct about the Holiday Inn in Aruba!) but what I will cherish the most is that we celebrated my wedding together, in Decfrom coming down with Anita to the bridal shower, to our rehearsal dinner, and of course sharing the “big day” with Stephen and I. The day was an absolute dream come true-because we got to share it with all the ones with love, especially you. I will miss you beyond words but your legacy will live on and that gives me comfort. Love you forever, UNCLE ♥️
Your niece,
Michelle Kunicki

Families always share a history of cherished memories full of warmth, laughter, love and affection and I was blessed to share all of that with my Lenny. One hundred years from now,it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in,how much money I had,nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child.I was privileged to share that part of my Lenny’s life, thank you my love for taking me on that journey .I love you with my whole heart and soul, your Neat.

Lenny, you were our Dad's golf buddy, his friend and his partner in crime. I will remember the almost daily phone calls between the two of you. Always, before hanging up the catch phrase that ended the call, and one we will always remember "The Finger's Up". You and Anita were part of our family. You may be gone but your memory will live on forever. You touched the lives of so many people with your kindness. Rest in peace. You will never be forgotten.

We have lost a cherished man who provided us with unending
Love, kindness and support. One who filled a room with love
and laughter for both young and old. He had his favorite sayings
that are sure to be remembered and may even carry on,
“It’s time to put the feed bag on” and “The fingers up!”
His frequent “just checking in” phone calls will be sorely missed.
Lenny will live on in our hearts and memory and will…
NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

Sorry for repeating myself but my heart is still so shattered by the news of Uncle Lenny's passing. : (
As my brothers (Jimmy & David) and I were growing up, Uncle Lenny (who is/was also our Godfather) and Aunt Anita were in major part of our lives mostly due to my dad & Uncle Lenny's close friendship, as best friends. Uncle Lenny was also the best man at my parents wedding. Their close bond would be described as if they were like "Brothers" continued for years until dad's passing in March 2007.
There are so many, many wonderful memories of and with Uncle Lenny but the one that stood out the most were the times during his coaching years with both high school football leagues with PLAINVIEW and AMITYVILLE. Dad and I would wake up early Saturday mornings to go buy several dozen donuts from Dunkin Donuts before meeting with Uncle Lenny, his coaching staff and the team before their game that afternoon. It did not matter whether or not the games were at HOME or AWAY or BAD WEATHER, Dad and I were there to support Uncle Lenny (as head coach) and the entire organization and if needed, I would be their "water girl" during the games too. : )
It gave me some comfort knowing that both Dad and Uncle Lenny are now in heaven reunited once again to take care of each other, as "Brothers". I am sure that Dad welcomed him with open arms with a huge SMILE on his face! : )
Uncle Lenny's passing is a tremendous loss on everybody. May his memory stay alive through those he deeply blessed as a man/father/best friend/best man/friend/brother/cousin/teacher/mentor/coach but most importantly as my Uncle and Godfather.
He will be forever missed, loved and never forgotten.
Rest easy and until we meet again, Uncle Lenny.
Love you always,
HEATHER

Lenny also called himself our big brother. We watched the Honeymooners nearly everynight and every morning he would send me off to school with these words
"Hey suz, remember, and the finger is up, Give 'em the works."
Lenny, I'm giving 'em the works for you.

There are people in one’s life that make tremendous impact, Coach Lenny was one of mine. He showed me to dig down deeper than I ever imagined. He introduced me to camaraderie like never before. He pushed me and my teammates to be our best, he yelled, stomped, and got in your face. What we all knew, is that he loved us, and we loved him. Thank you Coach, you will be remembered .

Lenny was aways big for age when we were growing up in Brooklyn so he was a natural for playing on the line in football. he had the look of a footballer big and strong and the crewcut. he found his niche as a P/E teacher and coach.
Lenny was much more than a teacher and coach, he was an important part of a large and extended family. The Mattera's and the Iacono's
His phone calls will be missed by all!
